What a Kindergarten student learns in Science
Kindergarten science centers on using observations and simple investigations to explore pushes and pulls, the warming effects of sunlight, patterns in weather, and the basic needs of plants and animals (including how living things interact with and change their environments).
The skills for the year
- 1Plan and conduct investigations comparing effects of different strengths of pushes and pulls on object motion

- 3Analyze data to determine whether a design solution changes an object’s speed or direction as intended using pushes or pulls

- 6Use observations to describe patterns of what plants need to survive (water, light, air)

- 16Compare strengths and weaknesses of two objects designed to solve the same problem by analyzing test data
