What a 2nd grade student learns in Writing
Grade 2 writers produce more elaborated opinion, informative/explanatory, and narrative pieces that include reasons or details, linking/temporal words, and clear conclusions, while beginning to revise, edit, and use simple research with adult support.

- 13Edit writing for capitalization, punctuation, and spelling with adult/peer support
- 14Use a variety of digital tools to produce and publish writing (with guidance)

- 16Recall information from experiences or gather facts from provided sources to answer a question
- 17Apply grade-2 conventions: capitalize holidays/product/geographic names; use commas in letter greetings/closings; form contractions and simple possessives with apostrophes
